The Ozone Open 2020
Last Saturday February 29, we held the first official Ozone Open at Wainamu beach in Raglan, otherwise known as the Raglan kite beach, and what a day it was! It was epic to see such a good turn out despite the rain, and to see so many keen kiters and foilers getting out there, enjoying themselves and sending it together!
The day started with a huge seconds and demo sale in our garden bar out the back of the Ozone shop, with some killer deals on kiting gear that everyone got amongst! And after a fuel up on breakfast at Isobar, we headed down to the beach so the real fun could begin!
Luckily for us, the rain also brought the wind and the conditions were perfect for foiling to kick things off. But everyone made the most of the conditions and by the early arvo, there would have been at least 30 kites out, running up and down the sky. A pretty cool sight for spectators. We also charged up the BBQ and kept the good vibes rolling all day long. Morgan and Matt were on the Jetski all day teaching at least 30 people to foil, all of which got up and going! And Alina was helping everyone launch and land their kites. There was no lack of smiles and laughs, and everyone got to witness some epic freestyle tricks on the water! One thing we love about this sport, is how it brings people together, and that's certainly what it did this day!
As promised, there was a prize for best dressed which went to Daniella Matarasso for her creative efforts! And after a good 6 hour session on the beach, everyone was ready to refuel again and head back to Isobar for the after party! Ticket holders enjoyed dinner, a drink and live beats while they played free pool and enjoyed our special Ozone cocktails well into the evening!
Overall a great success and a fun day had by all! And because we had so much fun the team at Ozone NZ feel we need to do this more often, so watch this space for another event like this in the near future!
