My First Snow kiting trip in the deep south 2020.

I’ve been wanting to give snow kiting a go for a few years now and just recently had the opportunity to spend 10 days with the Ozone team on the snow in the South Island.

Matt Taggart and Morgan Coster from Ozone New Zealand organised an exceptional opportunity for myself and a group of friends to play and learn how to snow kite.
The whole trip was very well organised and thought out from supplying the latest equipment for safety and kiting to Transportation, accommodation, food and drink which were all laid on for us in abundance.

Their knowledge of the conditions and facilities in the area and the spot generally gave me great confidence in all aspects of my trip. It would be hard to do anything else as much fun and as rewarding as snow kiting. The highlight of the trip would definitely be staying in the Bob Lee hut an isolated hut on the Snow Farm. The hut slept seven comfortably with great facilities, positioned high on the snowy peaks in the south island so you could clip on your skis or snowboard right outside the hut and within a few minutes be kiting in some of the most spectacular scenery in New Zealand.

I’ve been kiting on water for quite some time now but haven’t been on the snow for well over 25 years. This certainly didn’t slow me down as I was up and running within a few minutes of clipping in and flying behind the kite. The Ozone team catered for all abilities and they really gave me pointers and great confidence to enjoy all aspects of our trip. I for one will definitely be signing up for the next available snow kiting holiday! Thanks again for an awesome holiday Ozone Team.

Happy snow kiting ,

Rob Gillard.
